It may seem daunting to approach various organisations to seek work experience placement. A good tip is to be organised, research your organisation, know what you will say and see it as an experience in building up your confidence to network and open doors to new opportunities.
Applications are now open for the AFP Forensics Work Experience Program!
The one-week program held in Canberra is for years 10-12 students who want to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), particularly in forensic science.
The first course will be held in May 2023 and the second in September 2023.

The Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Work Experience Program provides participating students with an overview of the roles of FRNSW and its firefighters. It is delivered through both practical and theory sessions in a disciplined and safe working environment. goIT Girls Work Experience Program
The goIT Girls program is a week-long work experience program aimed at female students in Years 10 and 11. At TCS, we are empowering Australian students with the skills they need to be ready for the workplace of the future.
Participants will meet senior executives from TCS and from our client organisations. These executives will provide insight into the various STEM roles that exist across the business spectrum, with the hope of inspiring a new generation of innovators, problem solvers and technology professionals. The aim is to provide insight into the existence of gender occupational stereotypes in the technology industry in order to challenge and eventually overcome them.

UNSW Data Science Work Experience Program
This Work Experience event is for Year 10 students who are interested in understanding more about Data Science, and in learning about tools for working with and analysing data.
Students should feel confident in working with mathematics and data, and have a comfortable familiarity working with computers. Previous coding experience would be an advantage, but is not required.
Projects Abroad : We understand that getting medical work experience as a student can be extremely difficult. We offer young people from secondary and senior secondary school a safe, guided experience into the world of medicine through our High School Special Projects. You’ll be part of an ethical medical project that benefits local communities. RAAF Health Roles Are you interested in a medical career? Becoming a Doctor, Nurse, Medical Technician, Dentist, Pharmacist, Radiographer or Physiotherapist in the Royal Australian Air Force provides exciting career opportunities and highly rewarding experiences whilst looking after the wellbeing of ADF personnel in Australia and overseas. During your placement with Richmond Health Centre, you will be given insight into the daily operation of a Garrison Health Centre and an opportunity to work closely with Royal Australian Air Force healthcare professionals.
Southern NSW Local Health District A week of work experience with our staff at one of our 14 facilities can provide high school students with a taste of what it’s like to work in health. All placements need to be negotiated by high schools (Careers Advisors), and will be accepted at the discretion of the site/facility manager.

Includes forensic chemistry, physics and material science, environmental science, biomedical science, medical and molecular biosciences.
Sydney Living Museums’ work experience program for Years 10, 11 and 12 students is designed to provide students with an understanding of what it is like to work in a museum environment and as part of a team.
Australian Museum Our high school work experience program offers students the chance to explore a variety of careers including science and cultural research, education, public programming, curatorial and exhibition design, marketing, communications and corporate services.
Sealife Trust Ocean Youth (OY) is face to face program about building tomorrow's leaders and change makers to conserve and protect our oceans. Cost involved, $250 per year.
CSIRO This virtual work experience program will support students to undertake work experience remotely, providing opportunities for those who may face geographic or other barriers to participating in traditional work experience. It also allows you the opportunity to experience contemporary ways of working, from home, and with people across geographic boundaries, just as CSIRO scientists do every day.

Sydney Theatre Co. Work Experience Week enables students to explore many facets of STC and gain a broad understanding of the workings of a theatre company. Each day focuses on a different STC department, including programming, direction, set and costume design, marketing, sponsorship and philanthropy.
Opera House The Open program Work Experience takes place twice a year and is open to secondary school students who are ideally studying in Year 10. The program lasts a week and gives participants a hands-on experience of how the Opera House operates during the program hours of 9.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Museums of History NSW Museums of History NSW work experience program for Years 10, 11 and 12 students is designed to provide students with an understanding of what it is like to work in a museum environment and as part of a team.
MOD. The Modern Museum in South Australia has a unique work experience program which runs during school holidays.
The Reserve Bank of Australia's Head Office in Sydney offers work experience for Year 10 high school students. During the one-week program, students learn about the roles and functions of the nation's central bank and how to interpret economic graphs, as well as shadowing one of the Bank's economists as they complete a series of activities.

Australian Defence Force The Defence Work Experience Program provides young Australians interested in Defence as a future career, the opportunity to sample life in Defence and learn more about the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the Australian Public Service (APS).

YMCA Each year we host many people who complete their student work experience hours or vocational placements. These are formal work experience arrangements that are part of an education or training course.
